As responsible owners we ensure our Giant babies spend time with our own human babies. Introducing time with kids is a fun time for us at Oxenham's Elite. Our Giants get plenty of social time with both kids and adults. It is also good for my kids to spend time with such cute and energetic pups. The bond they both create and slowly nourish is one that will last a lifetime.

When searching for your Giant, you may notice a difference in pricing. Many times these differences are based on the type of registration of that puppy.
So what are some differences between Full AKC registration versus Limited AKC registration? For starters, Limited registration is determined by the litter owner(s). Limited registration certificates are white with an orange border; while the Full Registration certificate is white with a purple border. Moreover, according to the AKC, Limited registration means that a dog is registered through AKC but the litters produced by that dog are not eligible for registration (American Kennel Club, n.d.). A dog registered with Limited Registration is also ineligible to be entered in a breed competition in a licensed or member dog show. He is eligible, however, to be entered in any other licensed or member event. These events include: Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Hunting Tests, Herding, Lure Coursing, Agility and Earthdog. However, there is one way to change a Limited Registration to a Full Registration. This change must be requested by the litter owner through the Application to Revoke Limited Status form found on the AKC site. That form will then need to be completed and sent to AKCs Raleigh address with the processing fee. After processing, they send a Full Registration certificate to the dog's owner. We are so excited, only 1 more week before we get our 2 pretty Giants. My husband and father will be making a long trip up to Oklahoma to pick up these babies (exactly 41+ hours of driving). I will make sure to have pictures of their journey as well as pics of these pretty girls. Stay tuned to meet the new additions of Elite Giant Kennel!
Here are some important facts about Giants:
Despite the name, Giants are not a giant breed but instead a larger and more powerful version of the Standard Schnauzer (American Kennel Club, n.d.). Giants are extremely intelligent, energetic, and strongly territorial dogs. He loves to be with his owner and feels great responsibility to protect them. He is a quick learner and can easily distinguish between friend and foe with the right training. This breed also requires a lot of exercise and plenty of playtime. He especially loves having a job to do. Regular grooming is essential, which includes brushing and stripping, in order to maintain his beautiful coat. This breed was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1930 (AKC, n.d.). He also ranges in size from 23-1/2 to 27-1/2 inches tall at the shoulder. Reference: American Kennel Club (n.d.). Get to know the Giant Schnauzer. Retrieved from www.akc.org/breeds/giant_schnauzer/index.cfm How nice must it be to just relax on a Sunday morning? Well lets ask Zeus and Boris. They are just having a calm Sunday morning doing nothing but enjoying my sisters comfy bed and taking a nice snooze. These boys sure enjoy a quiet weekend.
We are pretty excited we will be adding two pretty little Giants to our kennel soon. I will post some pics once we pick up our babies. We love our current Giants and these new babies will be no different. The best part, Christmas is right around the corner, I wonder what Santa will bring our Giant babies???
Happy Holidays everyone and thanks for visiting our kennel site. The saying friends come in all shapes and sizes can not be more true for Zeus and Boris. Zeus, our Giant Schnauzer, and Boris, our Standard Schnauzer, are best buds. But these two are a site to see. These two buddies love to play outside, sleep side by side each other and truly enjoy getting into trouble together. Inseparable and unstoppable, these boys were meant to be together from the start.
But what makes a great friend? If we could ask Zeus he would probably describe Boris' characteristics: smart, high energy, someone who will stay by your side even when they are terrified and last but surely not least, someone who will share their snacks with you when you have finished all yours. |
